Ahhh H&M is having so many great items up for sale right now! It’s too bad I’m on a 3 month no-shopping ban, otherwise I would be sure to pick a few of these up 🙂
Lined parka in dark blue –
$79.95 $50 – I actually ordered this parka back in a December order where I got 30% off, but sadly, it was too big 😦 I ordered too much and knew I needed to send back a couple of items, and with its ill-fit, it didn’t make the cut. I would consider buying it in a size down if its still on sale at the end of the season.
Leather boots in gray –
$99 $30 – Ankle-length boots are my go-to in the winter! I’ve been scouting for a pair of gray ones, but at $99, I wasn’t sure that a pair from H&M would be worth the price tag. Now that they are all the way down to $30, I would have tried these in a heartbeat.
Fine-knit sweater in black –
$29.95 $20 – I bought this sweater in gray a while back, and it’s so big and comfy, I would love to have it in black too.
Jersey pajamas in white and purple –
$24.95 $15 – My boyfriend got me some PJs from H&M for Christmas, and I could always use more 🙂
Butterfly sleeve dress in light beige –
$34.95 $20 – Do I really need to explain why I love this gorgeous, feminine dress? It’s flowy and perfect for spring and summer. It’s also a great length for work.
Pleated skirt in blue/white striped –
$29.95 $17 – I have enough navy and white in my wardrobe, that a striped skirt would compliment many things I already own.
Patterned dress in dark purple –
$34.95 $15 – Paired with some brown ankle booties (like the ones pictured beneath the dress) and some cream-colored tights, this dress is very reminiscent of something I would wear in college. My wardrobe was full of flowy dresses and floral prints.
Jersey top in black/patterned –
$17.95 $12 – I have this top in the pink/leopard print, and it’s a great loose top, perfect with shorts for summer.
Facial mask in manuka honey –
$2.95 $1 – Because hey, it’s only a $1.
V-neck sweatshirt in pink (or any color really) –
$17.95 $9.95 – This is one of those weekly or monthly specials that they run on a single item at a really great price. I really like the soft pink and the gray, but I would really be okay with any (or all, ha) of them.
Fine-knit sweater in dark blue patterned –
$24.95 $12 – while I like this item, this is probably the least desired item on the list. The heart pattern is really cute, but I’m not sure how it would fit. Being a tall girl, sometimes these boxy sweatshirts shrink upwards and don’t fit well anymore after the first wash.
Leather boots in brown –
$99 $50 – Again, ankle boots will be my downfall. I’ve got them in burgundy, camel, navy, and black, and I’ve got regular-sized boots in brown, but no ankle booties. These are super chic. At $50, I’d be a little hesitant to order them online, but if they were in store I would definitely consider buying them.
Boyfriend low jeans –
$39.95 $20 – I’ve got a lot of jeans. I have one pair that are comfy and boxy in the legs, fit in the waste, but I’m not sure I would call them boyfriend jeans. I love the boyfriend jean style that’s so popular right now, but it takes some serious work to find a pair that fit how they’re supposed to. There’s a 90% chance these wouldn’t fit right, but at $20 (and the ability to return them), I would consider trying them out. I’ve got pairs of pants from H&M that have lasted years and years. They are definitely quality.
Boucle coat in light pink –
$59.95 $25 – I mostly picked this coat because it is so unlike anything else I already have. I also have been loving any and everything pink lately 🙂 The boucle texture adds to its feminine and ageless look.
Hmmm…things look…different around here, right? I have to admit I am pretty nervous about my blog’s makeover, which I know is super silly. It took me hours to find a layout I liked. I wanted to do something glamorous and holiday-themed, without being too over the top! Do you like it???
In other news, I ordered my first PopBasic collection yesterday! PopBasic sells micro collections of fashion items featuring “limited edition, high quality basics and trend pieces.” The nice thing about these items is that, as the name indicates, they’re basic enough that they will likely compliment many other items in your closet! At the same time, they almost always sell out of their collections in a short time period. They’re so popular that they “open” at a specific date and time, with many fashion enthusiasts marking their calendars so as not to miss out! This is not a subscription service, it’s a one time set purchase. You will not be automatically enrolled to receive the next set.
Amelie Collection – $70
I ordered the “Amelie Collection,” released yesterday at 10 a.m. PST (1 p.m. EST). This set features the:
- Le Breton dress (RRP $70) – A fun twist on our classic Le Breton. We’ve taken it out for a spin, added pockets and adjusted the sleeves to a 3/4 (really 1/2) length for transitional dressing.
- Silver tube necklace (RRP $25) – For those days when you’re after that perfectly simple, yet delicate accessory. Wear on its own or layered with another chain. Alloy, silver plated.
- Infinity knot bracelet (RRP $20) – Whether worn on its own, or stacked with other pretty pieces, our Infinity Knot Bracelet will be a lovely addition to your collection.
Since this was my first purchase, I got $15 off (You can too! Just click here!) the purchase price of $70. Some of their collections push $80-100, so I waited for one I really loved to use my $15 off.
I can’t wait to get it in the mail! I already know exactly when I’m going to wear this for the first time–at the airport on my way to Cancun in a few weeks 🙂 It’ll be a nice transition piece (as indicated) from the freezing temps in Ohio to the 70’s and 80’s (hopefully!) in Mexico! I’ll instagram some pics from the airport and trip, so be sure to follow me on instagram!
I have to admit, it’s nice being up early this week without studying my brains out for a midterm like I spent all of last week for my Early Rising challenge.
Without further ado, here is outfit #2 (rhyme not intended) of my Fall 30×30 challenge. Anyone else want to jump on board and do the challenge with me?! 😀 It’s not too late!
It’s time for that post I was once excited about and now dreading, lol. I bought a lot in the last month…almost nothing in the beginning or end, but a lot in the middle Regardless, I promised to share my … Continue reading
Hello lovelies! I’m sorry for my absence in the blogging realm as of late. I have been severely lacking inspiration for posts…especially fashion-related posts. I have plenty of beauty-related ideas, but I miss my roots as a fashion blogger. I … Continue reading
Despite spending $54.71 more than I sold, I don’t consider that I failed my challenge. I knew that my last purchase was going to put me over, but I thought I could recoup the amount from selling more clothes. Knowing I was over, however, kept me from buying a single item for the remaining 5 months of my challenge!
What I did learn, was that I potentially saved $4,000+ dollars between September 6, 2013 – September 5, 2014. The graphs below represent my spending pattern between the two years.
September 6, 2012-September 5, 2013
-This report was run from my mint.com account, which tracks spending habits over time.
-The category I ran was my general “Shopping” expenditures for the two years.
-I accounted for and removed similar purchase categories for Books, Electronics, Hobbies, Costumes, etc.
-The “Clothing-Other” category represents clothing items that were exempt from my challenge (such as my suit and bridesmaids items), while the “Clothing” category represents all clothing purchased from the first year and clothing purchased during my challenge year with “selling” money (though no “selling” income is accounted for on the graph).
Maybe now will be a good time to talk about the elephant in the room: beauty expenditures. Where one vice is corrected, a new vice began. A year ago I could simply not understand why people would buy expensive beauty products when there are perfectly good drug store products to choose from. A year later, I’m over a thousand dollars invested in products that I still don’t quite understand.
I am not saying that beauty products aren’t worth the hype or the price tag (in some cases), but I would be a fool to say that I didn’t turn one addiction into another. The fact is, I have so. many. new. products. and. samples. And yet, I keep accumulating more! I think my next goal is going to be to inventory my makeup, try to clear out some of the garbage, and utilize the golden products. If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been doing a lot of products hauls, but lacking in the actual reviews and FOTD’s. I could do (and actually plan on) another giveaway or two just before the year is up with all the sealed, new products I’ve accumulated but not yet tried!
Cosmetics aside, I am actually very proud of myself for getting through this year. If you would have told me 18 months ago that I would attempt such an endeavor, I would have laughed in your face. But the days leading up to my decision were wracked with guilt, anxiety, and bills. I just couldn’t stop myself from the sales and the sense of “newness,” despite my evolving style. I could not have completed this challenge without the following:
- This blog. This blog has introduced me to the most wonderful people from all over the world, and has kept me accountable to my goal. If I didn’t have others checking up on me, I would have failed within the first 3 months of the challenge.
- “Dresses for Julie” – though her blog has been put to rest and she wrapped up her challenge in 2013, it was really nice being able to follow along as she completed the same challenge. It kept my vigor renewed and offered many ideas for completing the challenge, and completing it well. Not to mention, she introduced me to…
- The “Stylebook” app (I am not paid or asked to promote this app at all). This app is legit. For $3-$4, I was able to take an inventory of my entire closet. It has features that let you crop out the background so you can lay your outfits out together on the screen. Also, you can create looks, search for inspiration, and get a lot of stats (such as most worn, least worn, and average cost/wear) that nerds like me just can’t get enough of. I’m an accountant after all!
- Most importantly: your support. Support came from the most unexpected sources, and kept me excited and motivated about what I was doing. I only hope that through these embarrassing revelations and honesty about my “addiction,” I can inspire others to go out and do the same, whether it’s clothes, food, cosmetics, anything! Twitter, Instagram, WordPress, Bloglovin’, etc. all have great families of beauty and fashion bloggers that live to answer your questions and offer advice! Seriously, you guys are the best ❤
Stay tuned for Part 3 including what I have learned about style and wardrobe planning!
Wahhh I am overwhelmed with gratitude for all the love I received from family, friends, co-workers and complete strangers! My birthday was on Monday, September 1st, but the celebrations started Sunday night!
Rather than throw a party or do some kind of dinner, I thought it would be fun to get a bunch of friends together and go bowling Sunday night, since the majority of us had Monday off for Labor Day. It was also college-night pricing which means cheap lanes, cheap pizza, and cheap booze! 🙂 Sorry the pics are somewhat difficult to see as it was so dark in the alley.
On Tuesday, my coworkers surprised me with balloons and a special cake with more sunflowers and yellow things! Ha I guess everyone knows my weakness.
I got so many fun, great gifts that I wanted to share:
-My boyfriend got me a Nook Glowlight, the Molecule 01 perfume from Barneys, and the Topshop purse (not pictured) I wanted. Guess he reads my blog after all 😉 I yelled at him for spending that much, but he would hear none of it.
-My best got me the Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Gold Palette, which I just recently discovered but that she picked up for me months ago (she knew what I wanted before I did!). Her and my friend Dave also got me some cute little Sailor Moon memorabilia and Dave picked up the hard copy of F(x)’s album, Red Light.
-Toni got me the Sephora “Give Me Lip” collection, which has an awesome variety of lip products from Urban Decay, Nars, Buxom, etc. She also blessed my wallet with a $50 gift card to Sephora, which likely won’t survive this upcoming weekend ❤
-The fam picked up a number of items off my wishlist too, including a new game for my 3DS, some baking mats, a pretty coral scarf, and a white and rose gold watch. My mom also got me a bag of 26 yellow things, ranging from candy, cupcake liners, and post-its, to glow sticks, nail polishes, and a loofa.
My heart is full. Thank you all so much for your warm wishes.
Much love XO
